Shepherd’s Pantry

About Us

Helping Feed Our Community Since 1992

Shepherd’s Pantry is open to anyone who resides in New Hampshire and needs assistance. The pantry serves approximately 100 families every week. Each family is provided with one or two bags of groceries plus meat, fresh vegetables, bread, eggs, milk, pastry and some personal/health items.

The Pantry operates every Monday morning as a drive through from the Windham Presbyterian Church parking lot. The operations of Shepherd’s Pantry are carried out by a dedicated group of volunteers who, each week, shop for food, pick up regular donations from supermarkets and bakeries, fill the shelves and freezers and then bag the food and distribute it to our clients each Monday morning.

Our History

Shepherd’s Pantry was founded in 1992 as a result of a collaboration between Windham Presbyterian Church and St. Matthew Church. The Pantry has been serving the greater Windham area continuously since then.

Our Mission

The mission of Shepherd’s Pantry is to provide food assistance to those in need in Southern New Hampshire. With the support of local individuals and organizations, Shepherd’s Pantry assists in providing basic food and grocery items for families experiencing food insecurity.

Thanks to Brownie Troop 22200, helped by Brownie Troop 10763, and Junior Troop 10536 for their generous donation of Girl Scout Cookies to the Pantry. Everybody needs a box of Girl Scout Cookies! And special thanks to their parents and Cookie Mom, Amanda Laws!

Thanks to Windham Cub Scouts Den #1 Pack #263. They helped sort groceries and produce for their Community Service Project. Then they raised money to purchase food for the Pantry at the Windham Shaw's. Because they bought so much food, they received many Shaw's Monopoly tickets and found that they had won $5000 worth of groceries! The Cub Scouts decided to donate the $5000 to the Pantry, since they had been shopping for the Pantry when they won.

Thanks to Windham Shaw's and their customers for a very successful Spirit of Giving Campaign. Shaw's collected cash donations from their customers from Thanksgiving until January 1st and hosted two Open Houses attended by Shepherd's Pantry volunteers. The donations collected provided 267 boxes of food (4 pickup truck loads) to the Pantry.

Thanks to Jared Theordore, who collected food and donations for the Shepherd's Pantry at his birthday party instead of gifts. So kind and considerate to think of others less fortunate on your birthday. Happy Birthday Jared!

For three years in a row, Zoe Markis celebrated her birthday by asking friends to make a donation to the Shepherd's Pantry in lieu of birthday presents. Guests arrived with pantry donations to feed their community. Special thanks to Zoe and her Mom Jennifer for setting a great example for all of us.

Thanks to Susan Grubbs, who was searching for a clever way to celebrate her husband’s 50th birthday. Because his birthday fell on Pi day (3/14/15) she decided to celebrate by buying 50 pies that her husband could donate to the Shepherd’s Pantry. The families of Shepherd's Pantry appreciate their generous act.
