The January Volunteer Spotlight posthumously celebrates two special Shepherd’s Pantry volunteers: Mary and Arlon Sieve.
When Arlon retired in 2000, he and Mary began traveling the world, visiting all seven continents. Their favorite trip was when they travelled to the Holy Land with the St. Matthew’s Church group. Through St. Matthew’s Church, both Mary and Arlon heard of Shepherd’s Pantry and became dedicated volunteers. Mary and Arlon Sieve volunteered together on Monday mornings at Shepherd’s Pantry, and they always wore big smiles on their faces as they helped others. These beautiful smiles helped other people to feel better and smile back. Their joy from participating in this ministry was conveyed by their wish for memorial donations to Shepherd’s Pantry when Mary and Arlon passed away in 2022.
“My Parents really enjoyed volunteering at Shepherd’s Pantry and talked about it often. They were very passionate about the mission of Shepherd’s Pantry. They had such big hearts and wanted to help the community.” – Jill Sieve, Mary and Arlon’s daughter.
Below is a family favorite photo of Mary and Arlon from their 50th wedding anniversary.
Thank you to Mary, Arlon and the Sieve Family, for your generosity and dedication to Shepherd’s Pantry.
